Free Printable Road Trip Scavenger Hunt for Kids
If you’ve ever tried taking a road trip with kids, you know that “are we there yet” and “I’m bored” can become repeated phrases you hear again, and again, and again. Our family has been road tripping together since the girls were infants, and we quickly learned that having a variety of activities, as well as some fun technology for kids, helps keep the girls entertained and the whining to a minimum. Today I’m sharing a free printable kids road trip scavenger hunt that will hopefully be one additional tool in your keep ’em busy entertainment kit.
Your kids will have fun keeping their eyes peeled outdoors for each item on their sheet. I tried to choose items that were fairly universal no matter where you were driving, but also items that kids would have to be on the lookout for. The yellow car might be a bit tricky, but it’s definitely do-able! Planes can be surprisingly hard to find unless you’re driving near an airport, but perhaps you can help a bit with any hard to find final items.
Be sure to remember a clipboard or writing spot for their road trip scavenger hunt! Check out this fun personalized kids activity board craft I created and shared previously at i heart naptime.
It also works well to get a carabiner clip (affiliate) and keyring to attach a pencil pouch to the clipboard. My girls love to use twistables crayons (affiliate) on our road trips, and I like that they’re contained a bit better than the regular paper wrapped crayons.
Now you’re ready to hit the open road and give your kids a fun activity that will encourage them to look outside instead of at a screen! Plus, this is a fun way to have a “prize” that your kids could win if they complete their scavenger hunt.

This is a great idea! I love the way you connected the pencil bag to the clipboard, that is such a genius idea!
Thanks so much Krista! Really helps keep those sneaky crayons and pencils from scattering around the car! :)
