My Carry On & Camera Bag for Africa: Epiphanie Bags
One of the must pack things for my recent trip to Africa was my DSLR camera. I was looking for a camera bag that didn’t look “industrial” and would work as a carry on for my other electronics as well as my camera. Epiphanie Bags had just the thing — a stylish and cute backpack that worked well for traveling, as well as ample room for my camera & electronics. If you’re not wanting to accessorize with the black nylon look, epiphanie bags has many options for men and women looking for a modern and stylish camera bag.
I chose the Madison backpack camera bag for my trip. It had room for my laptop and could be used as a backpack or tote, which was ideal for a carry on and safaris. And wow, was I able to stuff this bag!

Inside my epiphanie bags Madison bag I carried:
– Canon T3i with attached kit lens (18-55mm)
– Canon 55-250mm lens
– 15 inch Dell laptop
– laptop cord
– small wallet with cash & cards
– headphones
– iPhone
– iPad 5th gen (in back zipper pocket)
– wireless mouse (in front pocket)
– snack mix bag (in other front pocket)
– iPad charger & plug outlet converter (in side pocket)
– travel medications (in other side pocket)

The backpack style worked great when traveling with all my gear in airports, but when I used the bag as just a camera bag, I removed my laptop and it was much lighter. I had LOTS of compliments on my bag during my travels in Africa.

I LOVE this bag!!! DSLR cameras are so bulky and the ugly camera bags just don’t do it for me!!! Love this.
Great! Good luck Lara!
Looks like a great bag! My purse is a little small for my camera with my large wallet. I need to upgrade :)
It’s definitely nice to travel with all my gear together. Best of luck Angela!
What a great giveaway – I have been thinking about getting one of these bags for ages! I completed all of the entries before I realized that it’s only open to U.S. residents – sorry!!
Lisa — if you’re in Canada I think the problem is you can’t win something without passing a question test. Right?? Epiphanie is willing to ship outside the US if the winner pays shipping, but I’m not familiar enough with international giveaway rules to know how it all works. We can wait and see what happens if you’re name pops up. :)
These are beautiful bags!
They are so amazing Terra! I think I might have to start thinking about a smaller purse size one too! :)
Beautiful bag! I need a fashionable bag to carry my camera and goodies. Thanks for the chance!
So happy to have this Epiphanie Bags giveaway Chris! Best of luck!

I have been dying to get one of these bags ever since I got my new DSLR. Your photos are gorgeous by the way. Love the one by the termite hill.
Thank you Kristen! It was a great bag for my travels. Best of luck on winning!
That’s a beautiful bag. I especially like that it turns into a back pack.
The backpack feature was SO important. Really came in handy with all the walking and airport travel!
These look super cute!
There are a lot of options for all different shapes and sizes of Epiphanie Bags. I just love them!
This bag is ridiculously cute!! We have a small backpack type bag for our DSLR camera, but it doesn’t hold much else but the camera so I always end up carrying two bags. This would answer all of those problems. I must get me one before our next trip! – Lauren from the SITS Comment Tribe
Lauren I was surprised at just how much I could carry in this bag! I especially loved all the little extra pockets that worked great for accessories and chargers. There’s also an interior zipper spot that worked perfect for my passport!
I have always wanted to go on a safari!! Looks like a ton of fun.
It was so much fun Leigh. A recommended experience definitely!
What a gorgeous bag! Definitely nice enough to use on a day to day basis! (Stopping by from the SITSgirls comment love challenge :) ).
Thanks for stopping by Lauren! I already took it along with me for the Build Your Blog Conference I just attended and it worked great there too. I’m definitely in love!
Wow! That bag doesn’t look like a camera bag at all! And it is so versatile!
Totally right Leah! It is really cute and not camera bag looking!
That bag looks amazing! I love everything about it! The color, pockets, size, and that it doubles as a backpack. Fun blog. I’m glad I found you!

Thanks so much Laura — the bag is definitely perfect for travel!
These bags are beautiful! I’m always looking for a bag to hold my camera and laptop for trips without having to carry my bulky old backpack. This is perfect!
I too, hate those industrial looking camera bags and I’m so glad I found these!
I won an Epiphane bag 2 years ago on my birthday and it.is.amazing!! I rarely travel without it. It totally doubles as a diaper bag too. :)
WooHoo! Lucky you Kristen. They’re the best aren’t they!
Oh my goodness … I adore my Epiphanie bag … great giveaway! And I’m quite jealous of your trip!
Nice to meet you through #SITSBlogging!
Kimberly @ Rhubarb and Honey (http://rhubarbandhoney.com/)
Nice to meet you too Kimberly! I definitely recommend trying to take a trip to Southern Africa if you can!
This bag is so beautiful. Most girls have an obsession with clothes or shoes, but my obsession is most definitely with bags! Its a plus that the bag is so roomy. Most of my bags are a little on the big side so I like to joke and say that I like to climb in my purse for naps occasionally. Love it!
That’s great Lara! This bag is mighty cozy inside…perfect for a mid-morning nap. :)
Now that is a beautiful bag! Loved the photos of it. #SITSBlogging
Thank you Laura! Have a great day!
I love this bag! I’m making my way through #SITSBLOGGING so I’ll come back to enter. :)
Great Laurie — thanks for stopping by and best of luck!
I. Love. This. Bag. That is the cutest and most functional bag ever! I, sadly, don’t have the nice camera to put in it yet, because I am a bad blogger and take Pictures with my phone (tsk, tsk). If we had the funds I would have had one years ago, because once I do get one I’ll regret not having to while my kiddos were babies!
Stopping by from SITS to say hi!
You’ll get a good camera one day. Just beware, because once you have the camera you start eyeing new lenses and some of those are the same price as the camera! I like to set up techbargains alerts so when there’s a great deal I can grab it; which is how I landed my Canon t3i. :)
Thanks for this awesome giveaway. I love these bags!
Great Lauren — good luck!
This bag looks amazing! What a beautiful color. Perfect for traveling. I love how it is a backpack as well!
I really did appreciate the backpack feature while I was traveling!
Love this bag! I could REALLY use this in my everyday life.
Best of luck on winning Kimberly!
I would love to have a new camera bag for my camera that I got for Christmas. I have been looking for something different than the basic black camera bags.
I wonder who won? I hope I win!
Next time you’re in Africa, swing by the Cape. The family would love to have you visit us! I know my wife will be sad she’s missed yet another giveaway but being so far overseas we’ve learned not to enter most of them as the shipping costs far exceed the abilities usually. We can admire from afar.
I would love to visit the Cape, Luke. Really fell in love with the small bit of Africa I experienced and would love to travel back!
