Welcome WellieWishers! New American Girl Friendship Dolls
Get ready for a new line of dolls from American Girl, welcome the WellieWishers! These adorable friends will inspire your own kids, and bring some friendly smiles into your life.
We’re a family with two daughters, also living near the Seattle American Girl store, so our family knows the American Girl dolls well. Mia started our family off when she used some birthday money 5 years ago to buy a Julie doll. A year and a half later, Lizzy decided she wanted Kit for Christmas. And ever since we’ve loved visiting our AG store and seeing what’s new.
We were all excited when we saw that American Girl was releasing an all new doll line, the WellieWishers. Mia and I headed to our local American Girl store to meet the dolls and pick out one to take home.
Meet the WellieWishers
Camille
Camille adores the ocean—and she’s mellow as a mermaid. She’s the one her friends turn to when they need someone to listen. She has blue eyes, a freckle on one cheek, and silky blond hair. Her outfit is a deep-blue tee with glittery mesh ruffles, a tie-dye print skirt with a handkerchief hem, a glittery mesh layer on top, and a bow at the waistband. Her accessories are a coral starfish clip for her hair, light-pink underwear, and blue wellie boots with red fins and smiley fish faces.
Emerson
Emerson loves the spotlight—and the spotlight loves her right back. She loves to make her friends smile with funny jokes, original dance routines, and show-stopping songs. She has dark-brown eyes and black hair in curly pigtails. Her outfit is a striped dancer’s top, a shimmery bright-pink tulle skirt printed with silvery dots and purple stars, two bright-pink hair ties with tulle ribbons, light-pink underwear, and pink wellie boots made to look like a ballerina’s toe shoes.
Willa
Willa has a love for animals. She’s sure to be the first one up a tree—and the last to turn away a furry friend. She has hazel eyes and silky strawberry-blond hair in long pigtails that can be brushed and styled. Her outfit includes a hedgehog tee with a sweet printed face and dimensional ears, a green hedgehog-print skirt trimmed in satin ribbon, a cute headband with fabric bunny ears, light-pink underwear, and red wellie boots with sweet ladybug faces.
Willa is the doll my animal loving daughter chose!
Kendall
Kendall is creative—she’s always drawing and inventing. Leave it to her to patch friendly mix-ups with smiles, patience, and a handmade card. She has deep-brown eyes and curly black hair in pigtails. Her outfit is an orange-and-white striped tee with a bold pink floral print bow, a light-blue skirt with white polka dots, a floral border, and blue tulle peeking out at the hem, a pink floral-print bow headband to show off her curls, light-pink underwear, and bright-pink floral wellie boots.
Ashlyn
Ashlyn is a princess-in-training (and party-planner extraordinaire). She’s just the one to turn a friend’s frown upside-down. She has brown eyes, freckled cheeks, and long silky brown hair that can be brushed and styled. She’s wearing a fancy pink top with lace print, a Peter Pan collar, and golden satin ribbon, a tiered pink skirt with golden ribbon trim, a pretty pink tiara, light-pink underwear, and pink wellie boots made to look like glittery golden Mary Janes.
How can you not fall in love with each one of these cute friends?! Oh, and just so you know, these new WellieWishers dolls are 14.5″, so they’re a bit smaller than the original American Girl dolls (18″).
And one of the great things that American Girl does is create products so the girls can match their doll friends. You can buy outfits to match the dolls, as well as clear wellie boots to partner with printed socks, so your little one can match their new friend.
We also got a sneak copy of a few of the brand new WellieWishers books that are coming out this fall, they’re fun and great for early readers.
