What is the Seattle Fairmont High Tea [Afternoon Tea] Experience Like?

They’re world-renowned in North America to have properties that blend history with luxury and invite guests to raise those pinky fingers and take a sip.

So, what is the Fairmont High Tea experience really like? Here’s what you can expect.

The Fairmont Olympic recently renovated its lobby and opened an eye-catching bar in the new space.

The Olympic Bar is a popular spot for happy hour and also currently hosts the afternoon high tea at the Fairmont Seattle.

At the Fairmont Seattle location, you can enjoy Afternoon High Tea on Saturdays or Sundays between noon and 4 pm.

Afternoon tea is a British tradition that dates back to the mid-19th century. Of course, tea drinking has been around way longer, but this specific orderly tradition is attributed to an English duchess who used to get a bit peckish in the late afternoon.

I’ll mention that some call it High Tea, however, it truly is Afternoon Tea. High tea was not associated with the aristocracy and instead was a reference to working-class citizens who would come home after work and eat a more substantial meal at a high table.

At the Fairmont, each guest will get to choose their tea from a menu with a variety of blends and teas. Your tea will be brought in a ceramic teapot and you’ll be provided a china cup and strainer to pour yourself a cup.
