I’m one of those people who makes resolutions. Every year I promise that I’m going to be better at something, and like many, I barely get started before they’re busted. But, I’m always hopeful! Which is why I’ve created another goals worksheet to help me succeed. Maybe this one will work!
This new year’s resolution printable is a little different because it’s a habit tracker too. Studies have shown that it can take about 28 days for something to become a habit. My goal is to have a visual cue that will daily encourage me to stay at it. I’m a big fan of checklists.
Sometimes I feel like I have way too many resolutions too. This new goals worksheet makes me choose only four things to focus on each month. I’m considering having two sheets each month, one for personal and one for business. Each month I’ll jot down my four goals, then do something daily to achieve the goal.
I added some extra space under the goal line to help make sure my goal is a S.M.A.R.T. goal. Have you heard of that? It explains how to make sure your goals are truly goals.
Specific: what exactly will you do?
Measurable: how will you know if you achieved your goal?
Achievable/Action: what steps will you need to do to make it happen?
Realistic/Relevant: is it in your power to achieve and does it make sense for you?
Timely: what is your timeline/deadline?
Putting this into action, let’s say I want to make a goal about blog traffic. I could say, “get more pageviews.” But that’s not a S.M.A.R.T. goal. Instead I should say, “Build blog traffic with weekly newsletters, one new SEO post/month, and scheduling an old blog post into tailwind.” With my daily habit tracker I would need to do something daily to work towards that goal.
Another little touch I added to the goals worksheet are quotes. At the bottom of each sheet are inspirational quotes that will hopefully motivate me (and you) to work harder at achieving our goals.
