Wish me luck because I’m about to take the #DopeyChallenge! Wondering what craziness I’m embarking on? Starting today I will be running four races in four days to complete the Dopey Challenge by runDisney. And while this isn’t my first runDisney destination race, it’s certainly the most challenging event I’ve ever participated in.
My adventure begins with running the 5k this morning (Thursday). 3.1 miles running around Epcot and seeing the park with no visitors…well except for the thousands of other runners.
Friday brings on my second race of the challenge, the 10k. With a very similar course as the 5k, adding on a parking lot doesn’t seem like quite as much fun! Hey, maybe I can grab one of those trams…no one will ever know!
After running a measly 9.3 miles on Thursday and Friday, I’ll kick off my Saturday by running a half marathon. That’s right, 13.1 miles around Epcot and they’re adding in the Magic Kingdom! That’s two Walt Disney World parks for the price of one! Well, you can’t actually do anything in the parks but run past stuff because everything is closed, but still…two parks!
And as if running 22.4 miles on three back to back days wasn’t enough of a challenge, runDisney threw in the big one, a full marathon, to claim your complete Dopey status. Sunday morning I will embark on my first ever marathon and run 26.2 miles through the four theme parks and grounds of the Walt Disney World Resort.
After completing all four of these races for a total of 48.6 miles in four days I will be able to say that I completed the Dopey Challenge! In honor of my accomplishment I will have 6 new shirts and medals to wear with dopey pride. I’ll earn a shirt and medal for each race in addition to shirts and medals for the two challenges I will complete, Dopey (all 4 races) and Goofy (1/2 and full marathon).
My training has not been great, so I’m just going to go for the joy of the run, the energy of the crowd, and the celebration of life. Hope you will follow along on my journey on instagram, twitter, or facebook!
Amazing!! Good for you, what an incredible challenge & accomplishment! Have fun!
Thank you Krista! I’m hoping I’ll still be having fun on Sunday afternoon… :)
