Kids Packing List – Reader & Non-Reader Version

Last week I shared my own tips with teaching your kids how to pack a suitcase. I hope this will help many of you speed up your own travel preparation and packing times. Also, teaching your kids how to pack gives them ownership of the task and their choices. My girls love choosing their own outfits, and never complain about missing this or that! A foundational piece of this process is having packing lists tailored specially for kids. My method of kid packing uses the idea of choosing each outfit for each day based on the expected activity.

Free Printable Kids Packing List – Images option for non readers or text for readers

I shared in my last post a set of kids packing lists for this purpose. Now, I’ve created a non-reader version of kids packing list that is ideal for starting to teach your preschooler and/or early reader. It uses images to help kids make their clothing choices. In the beginning, it will be necessary for you to discuss and assist any young kids in this process. However with practice, they can learn to choose their items without your assistance. Please make sure to refer to my past post on 5 steps to teach your kids how to pack, for the process I recommend you follow.

A final note and recommendation would to be laminate the sheets or put them in a sheet protector so you can reuse them. This will keep you from reprinting for each trip and do your little green part in helping the world! Happy Travels!

These are fabulous! I've been meaning to update my own packing list now that my toddler is an "older" toddler at 3 1/2. I have scribbled notes - not quite as organized as your lists!

Great job on these! I'm looking forward to giving the non-reader version a try in two weeks with my preschooler and kindergartner.
